The End ( talking about the last show here, dont' read if you haven't watched)

wow!   disbelief Say it isn't so.   Its really over.   I have to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....somehow the writers got into my head and packaged the last show up exactly how I wanted it to end in a nice little neat package.    I hope I can be at peace with it now.    There were a few loose ends but I'm really really happy with everything that happened.

Josh/Reva....amazing.   I was so happy to see her walk to the lighthouse, but I got nervous when she said you don't know what i'm going to say.    ALWAYS, was the perfect ending, and the drive away in HB's old truck truly gave me (still giving me) goosebumps.

Phillip/Beth-  I'm an 80s chick... They had to end up together As did Rick/Mindy.   That made me so happy...I always wanted them together, but I know they never had drop dead hot sex chemistry together, but now they are together...he finally got the girl!!!!!

Frank/Blake another one like Rick/Mindy...I'm happy they are together, and happy they ending happily, but if the show went on, I don't think the chemistry would have lasted forever.    However, if everyone was happy we wouldn't have a soap anymore.  Which is exactly what happened!yawn

Alan's ending was well written...Buzz said, he can't imagine springfield without Alan Spaulding and guess what...there is no more Springfield.

Yeah for Holly/Ed & Fletcher/Alex!!!    Buzz/Lillian & Yeah for Billy & Vanessa, Lizzie & Bill, Shane/Marina... (happy but would rather jonathan but not enough time)   Dinah & Mallet WOO HOO

I was just thinking how strange it is, that none of us were worried who Jonathan would end up with...the poor guy is still alone after 1 year!!!  I guess we all know that Jonathan is a catch and deserves a great girl and he will find happiness, even if we don't know what it is, we know he's the kind of guy that will get what he finally deserves.

I just went to see my grandma who watches, she lives down the road.  I said to her I'm devasted!!  I'm so upset...she laughed at me and said OOH it's over!   She's 83, so all of her charachters are gone.   She never really got the whole Jonathan thing...and Natalia & olivia blew her mind.   She was happy about Reva/Josh, but she's still upset, they let her have a baby with jeffrey at such an "older"age.

She wanted to see flashbacks...It would ahve been nice to have 1 show or 2 shows next week, now that its over of all flashbacks of powerful moments, but the clips meggie posted the other day are great.

I hope a dvd comes out with GL's greatest moments or something.

Jeffrey fans are probably upset today, but Kim Zimmer made announcements and she is REVA, and she wanted Reva with Josh...

I should be finishing packing, but what the heck...

I loved the final episode too, and LoriR summed it up perfectly.  It was sweet to have everyone happy and with someone who made sense.  Jonathon ended up with his love, Sarah. Ashlee has a new life ahead of her. The rest are happy, lots of toasts, lots of kisses, lots of new relationships and babies.  Everybody and everything was tied up nicely.

I'm sure the Jeffrey fans will be disappointed but from a long term GL persective, he was never one of the main characters and actually got the only open ended story.  If he hadn't come back in a year, he was either dead or not coming.  The five minutes he got yesterday were enough.  It kept the question of who Reva would choose right to the end and that was fitting.

Reading the message boards, the fan bases always wanted their character or couple to be 'happy'.  However, if everyone is happy, there is no longer any angst (had to get that word insmile) or conflict, and without conflict there is no longer a story.  So here we are, everyone in Springfield happy and it really is The End.

ALWAYS!

You made me cry again Meggie!!!!!!!

Yes, as much as I loved Jeffrey, he didn't have a core with the show and was fairly a new character everyone else has history. He did his part, and I agree after a year. Asta La Vista BABy.... Even Marina with Shayne, Its nice to see those two families connected with their kids & grandkids.

I haven't seen the final episode, but I read ahead...

Jeffrey made a choice.  He could have come home and fought Edmund from there and been with his family.  Any time during that year, he could have but he chose to keep up with the hunt.  That sort of prooved Edmunds point, for me.

I'm glad that everyone ends up happy.  Most of all, I just wanted Josh and Reva to end up together.  Guiding Light, for me, has always been Josh and Reva's story, and to do anything else, it's just not Guiding Light.  I'm glad that at least in the end GL stayed true to history.

It did and I still get chills thinking about them packing up the pick up truck and driving away and T H E E N D coming across the screen.    REva and Josh were our Luke & Laura, and thats it!    Always.    I loved how they spent a year to find themselves and our now ready to live happily ever after.

TO prove the shows family ties even more.... I emailed my high school BFF (we still talk all the time, but not about GL and we live hours away from each other)>  I emailed her as soon as it was over and told her I was thinking of her and how we used to watch after school and LOVED Phillip Spaulding and how I kept thinking of her when Rick & Mindy were toasting...I told her I left work to come home and watch it.   She emailed back 2 minutes later>   I KNEW YOU WOULD STAY HOME YOU CRAZY FREAK!!!!    BUT COINCIDENTALLY, she is a stay at home mom AND works part time but stayed home to watch it at 10, she's watched it off and on over the years, but has taped it for the last month or so when the ending was coming...she said the same thing, she was thinking about how we never did anything after school until 4 o'clock, because 3-4 was GL time!!!!!

Definately watch it more than once, I just watched the second time and I caught on to a lot more things. Like when Billy said to Fletch I miss Ben.. I completely forgot he killed himself. I also saw Shayne playing with Sarah, I forgot that was his niece. It all went too fast today. Definately watch more than once.

Technically there was a "little" angst, 'cuz Reva is not a widow she is still married to Jeff. If she goes off and marries Josh she will be a bigamist. **Snicker**

I agree though great ending, just the way I wqould have it. i was (of course) crying my eyes out.

I felt like I was in the middle of the park during the final scenes. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I said Goodbye to all my friends in Springfield. It was the perfect ending.

I can't believe it's over, but I'm glad it ended on a happy note.

Frank and Blake were SO cute, realizing they'd been talking online. I'm glad Frank and Rick both got their happy endings.

I don't *get* the Cyrus/Mel thing, but whatever. It was funny when Remy showed up and found Cyrus in his sister's bed, but he didn't have a very Remy-like reaction, did he? I am glad the flash-forward didn't show Cyrus and Mel still together, because they certainly did not strike me as an endgame couple. I am glad that it seemed like Frank had finally learned to live with Cyrus, after all, but the "Cyrina" fan in me just wished that Cyrus was back with Marina. But that should have happened a long time ago. As in, before Marina married Mallet and TPTB bored us to death with their storyline.

That being said, if my choice was Marina/Mallet or Marina/Shayne, I am DEFINITELY glad it was Shayne at the end.

LOVED that Ben got a mention when Bill and Fletcher spoke. I dearly loved that character.

I always held out hope for a Jonathan/Lizzie reunion, but I guess there just wasn't time for that, so at least Lizzie got a happy ending. Jonathan didn't get any closure romantically, and was one of the few characters that didn't, but I was totally fine with that. Tammy is gone, and if it wasn't going to be Lizzie, then I didn't need to see some day player in the final episode being with Jonathan. (Though the Marina suggestion was a great one!!) Jonathan, in essence, got what he always wanted -- a stable home environment and a happy life for his daughter. I'm sure love will come his way. If I lived in Springfield, there would be a LOT of love coming Jonathan's way! HaHa!

Ashlee should have come home from Berkley with some supermodel type draped on her arm, rather than being a third wheel to the actually pretty adorable James and Daisy. But I suppose her time is coming.

I'm glad Danny and Michelle and Mindy all moved home. That was fitting.

Josh and Reva reuniting and having "always" was a nice moment from a historical standpoint, but unfortunately for me, felt so out of context and random that I didn't enjoy it as much as I wish I could have. And since Jeff-o is out languishing in forgotten soap-exile, it would have made WAY more sense to kill him off months ago when he was supposed dead, and then they could have spent the last few months building back the Josh/Reva thing as he helped her through the death of her husband.

It would have been impossible for them to wrap up decades worth of storyline in just a few months and still come out pleasing everyone. I think they did the best they could with the time they had to work with, even if it's not all exactly as I would have done it!

I just can't believe this era has come to an end. I will feel a greater sense of finality after the fan club weekend in October. I imagine many tears will be shed then.
