I'd be very surprised if Henry and Katie did try to be a couple again. But if it was written right, I could love them together again.

Jo, ICAM. Friendship is the basis for a solid marriage. Of course, you have to have "chemistry" too, but it's friendship that makes a relationship endure. IMO, Katie and Henry have everything it takes to "live happily ever"; they have both the friendship and the chemistry.

Well it was obvious today, IMO, that Henry & Katie both are in denial. Reid nailed it right on the head when he said Henry clearly was still in love with Katie, but was too afraid to make a move. And Barbara definitely got under Katie's skin - regardless of how much Katie said she didn't care what (or who) Henry did and that they were "better off as friends". I just hope that this is only the beginning of Kenry finding there way back to each other - that Henry continuing his meaningless fling with Barbara is just a way to cover his feelings for Katie and his fear of rejection. If the writers are smart, they won't allow these dangling feelings to be forever left in the air and will allow Henry & Katie to finally act on them and reunite for good.

i love katie and henry too, but right now i'm really loving henry and barbara. trent and colleen work really well together, and barbara deserves someone who appreciates her! as does henry. i don't think their fling is meaningless, i think it's what they both need at this point in their lives. whether or not that will last until the end (meaning september), i don't know. but it's great now!

Jes, I agree the Trent and Colleen do work wonderful together and their characters could make for great confidants eventually. Right now, they're just using each other, though. However, I don't see any romantic chemistry whatsoever and am thankful for it, lol. I will never be able to get over the "ick" factor of those two sleeping together. Babs is old enough to be Henry's mother - and IS the mother of his brother. That's just nasty, IMO! So I guess what I'm hoping Henry gets out of this hopefully short-lived relationship with Barbara is that he is more than worthy enough of any woman he chooses to be with, and shouldn't be afraid to pursue/rekindle a relationship w/her; to have the confidence to feel like he counts for more than a doormat for the women in his life - that what he wants and needs matters too. So if/when he and Katie find their way back to each other, Henry will never have feel the urge to let Katie walk all over him, just because he's afraid of losing her if he doesn't. That Henry feels that he is more than worthy of Katie and that she is very lucky to have him. I feel like Henry has already grown so much in this way, but maybe Barbara can give him the extra boost he needs, because he's not quite there yet. The scene yesterday with Reid proved that Henry still can't face his fears and get up the courage to call Katie and tell her how he truly feels. I just hope that it doesn't take Henry too long, and end up being too late to be with Katie.

I agree with your analysis, Sparky, but I am enjoying Trent and Babs together right now, because I think they work well together.

golly, i love henry and barbara together and i'm thrilled at seeing a beautiful mature woman being appreciated by a younger man, especially because it's henry. honestly, at this point in the show, i'd love to have them go out with creativity instead of caving to fan demands.

like carly and jack. jack is toxic for carly, and i don't like that the show will probably end with them together. henry, barbara, and carly all deserve to go off into the sunset with people who enhance their lives, not someone who they have to pine for and doesn't appreciate how great they are.

i don't buy the age difference argument because you can say that about dusty and most of the women he's been with. so if it works that way, why not the other way?

I've never been a Dusty fan, so for example, if Henry were to be with someone Maddie's age, I wouldn't think it were right either. I don't believe there should be a double standard between men and women and the age factor. If a person is either old enough to be someone's mother/father or young enough to be someone's son/daughter, I don't think they should be dating each other. There's too much of a generation gap, and obviously both parties are compensating for something - whether it's age/beauty/virility, the lack of a good parental role model, etc. JMHO.

Not really agreeing or disagreeing with anyone, just taking this conversation is another direction for a moment..

My big thing as far as Henry being paired is to take the time that is left, and build that couple. They did no favors IMHO to Henry and Vienna. Vienna wanted to get married.. Henry backed out.. Vienna wanted kids, Henry did not.. The list goes on!! It kinda bummed me out to watch two actors have so much fun acting together, but the writing not support them as a couple or nothing to really show a connection other then sex.. I think they could have given them a lot more in respect to that. Whomever it is for Henry in the end, I hope they take the time, and add some heart.

i agree about henry and vienna, and i still miss the lovely ewa and hope to see her again (but i did see her in damages last week!).

"If a person is either old enough to be someone's mother/father or young enough to be someone's son/daughter, I don't think they should be dating each other." real life example: my sister's boyfriend is 20+ years older than her and they've been together almost 15 years, so sometimes it works! it's about the individuals, not their age. i guess it's just because we see soooo much of the older man/younger woman thing on tv and in movies, that when it's the other way around, i rejoice. the older i get the more i feel this way. :)

ITA that TIIC did not do the pairing of Henry and Vienna justice. What could’ve been a beautiful, serious romantic relationship that rivaled Henry & Katie’s, was turned into a big fat joke of a mess. Even though these two had ample time to develop their relationship, TIIC refused to make it happen. Between the excessive, ridiculously over-the-top, hyperventilating, costume/weird fantasy sex and the lack of substance in their relationship, it was hard to root for them after a while. The last straw, for me, was when Vienna cheated on Henry with Gray and then forced Henry to apologize to her for it. I just couldn’t bring myself to support them after that.

The biggest problem in Henry and Vienna’s relationship, besides the aforementioned, was that Vienna pushed Henry from the very beginning – she jumped him in the limo, insisted he keep her fortune, move in with her, propose to her, and marry her all within an extremely short period of time. She didn’t ever take into consideration what Henry really wanted or needed – it was always about her. Henry never wanted the diner – Vienna insisted they keep it, Henry wanted to partner w/Carly at Metro (with his own money) – Vienna left him over it, Henry wanted to keep his own inheritance – Vienna threatened twice to leave him. It was either her way or no way, and Henry caved nearly every time, or if he didn’t, ended up crawling on his hands and knees begging for Vienna’s forgiveness. Vienna held Henry on an extremely tight leash. She tried to mold Henry into the man she wanted him to be, and Henry tried to be that because his self-esteem was low, and he was just grateful to find someone who wanted to be with him over anyone else. She could never accept him for the man he was.

If they were to reunite yet again, I don’t see the writers making them into a serious couple and people buying it. Viewers will always picture them as the “funny” couple who was always “a hoot” and nothing more. I want so much better for Henry and Trent than that.

I think one of the greatest things about Henry & Katie is that they’ve already gone through over 10 years of truly getting to know one another. They trust each other and accept and love each other for who they are. Henry & Katie truly have something solid to build on, and have both grown enough through the years to learn from the mistakes they made when they were together before. They both have shown that they would go to the end and back for each other, and can get through anything together. Plus, as a couple, they were cute, fun, serious, passionate, romantic, and sexy without being ridiculous or over-the-top.

There are always exceptions to every rule, but, in general, I feel that huge age gaps between couples, whether it is older man/younger woman or older woman/younger man, do usually indicate some underlying psychological problem. In the case of Henry and Barbara, there is the additional factor of her being his half brother's mother, which borders on the incestuous. While I love CZP and TD's interaction with each other, I would prefer it to be platonic rather than sexual, under the circumstances. And I don't think that Barbara should need the romantic attention of a younger man to make her feel beautiful (and I say this as an older woman myself).

this is oakdale - have you forgotten lily was married to her (sort of) uncle?! and craig had an affair with a young woman he once thought his was his daughter (dani!)? now that was icky!

don't get me wrong, henry and katie are my fave henry couple. but that doesn't stop me from enjoying henry and the fabulous barbara at the moment. i've long since given up hope that i can in any way influence the direction of the show, so i just enjoy the ride and make the best of it. :)

Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying Henra/Benry. It's just plain fun and they are both marveous with that. This also keeps both of them on the screen which is great. As for Ewa, as much as I like her, Vienna and Henry lost their freshness and vitality for me. It was time to move on. Eventually, Henry and Barbara will need to move on as well.

How I wish ATWT would last forever.

I know that soaps do it (incest is relative) all the time (There's a small gene pool with the limit on characters, of course.), but it doesn't mean that I like it

, especially when there are alternative s/l that would work just as well, imo. I love the interaction between CZP and TD; I would just prefer a different s/l for their characters.

As for Henry and Vienna, they could have made a great couple, but the writing has turned them into a joke almost. I definitely think that they are over, or should be.

If fans had any influence, then ATWT probably wouldn't be coming to an end. The writing has been bad for 5 years now---character-driven, not plot-driven, the vets have been mostly ignored, too many new superfluous characters, etc. I don't think P&G cared though, or they would have made changes years ago. It's a shame!

I, too, hope ATWT goes out with Henry and Katie together. With the way the storyline has been moving, I am inclined to believe that is the case.

I mean, Reid has already recognized that Henry loves Katie, and Vienna has always pretty much known that. So if Vienna can give them a little push, and Reid can as well, then we may have a happy ending by the coda.
