Way to go Maura West, Michael Park and Julie Pinson!!!!!!  They so deserve their Emmies!

I was unable to watch the Emmies last night.  Would anyone know of links which would show them receiving their awards and then their acceptance speeches?

Also, the ATWT Tribute is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68Gjl3Kar5o

My present lack-of-TV situation meant I did not get to watch the broadcast. (I had made arrangements, but something came up at the last minute so my plans fell through.) My friend Andrea, though, who knew how important it was to me, watched the Emmys herself and called me when the lead actor category came on and turned the TV up loud enough so that I was able to hear Michael's name called and even listen to his acceptance speech. I immediately broke down, sobbing, from mostly joy mixed with sadness. Maura's category was immediately after it, so I was able to hear her win and speech as well. I cried even more knowing how much it would mean to both of them to share that moment together.

I could not be happier than Michael finally has his Emmy, but at the same time, it's bittersweet because of As the World Turns coming to a close.

I was happy for them all as well!!  Very bittersweet, But glad the show got acknowledged ( I thought the tribute was kinda cheap).. I believe that was history mad as well, I don't believe a soap couple has ever won both best lead categories before .. Leave it to Maura and Michael to make history!!! smile

The tribute was nice.

I wish they would release the show on DVD sets.

I wish the same about GL. At least a highlights reel DVD set.  Wouldn't that be great?!  I would LOVE to have that.

I am so lost this summer without GL.  What to do at lunch?  That's when the boys and I would sit and watch together.  Still so sad it's gone.  sigh...

Yes.  I would love to have both.  There was a lot that I missed because I didn't watch either show continually.
The other soaps have never grabbed me.  The history just isn't there.  I have the Dallas set through season 11 so far and completely enjoy it.  This happens in the winter (hibernation season) when a disc can be run while I have a puter project happening.  Wouldn't it be fun to see GL's or ATWT's original B+W seasons....with the commercials!

What's your mom watching these days?  What does she think about it?

I'm going to be lost without my soap.  This is the only show I would not miss.  Otherwise, there's little on television that 'keeps' me tuning in.  In the evening, it's nice to turn the TV off, open the windows and listen to the frogs, crickets or birds.  The other night, the neighbor's kids sat outside in the dark and giggled for the longest time.  It was a beautiful peacful evening.

the "tribute" was awful. 1 minute for a show that ran for 54 years?? and dick clark and agnes nixon got how much time? not that they weren't deserving, but atwt was just as deserving. i was hoping they'd bring the entire cast on stage for an ovation, didn't they do that with gl last year? it looked like only a small percentage of the cast was even there. i was really disappointed, but i'm not sure why i'd expect anything better from cbs. :(

enough with the negative. julie, maura, and michael's wins were wonderful and much deserved. i loved all of their acceptance speeches, but my favorite thing was maura and little katherine's curtsy. :) and i loved seeing my andy (scott), he looks wonderful and i so so hope he shows up in oakdale before the end!!

Home from my travels, I sat down to watch the daytime emmys via my DVR.

I remember thinking last year that the tribute to Guiding Light was paltry, but this year's tribute to AS THE WORLD TURNS was even more painfully, shamefully inadequate.  They could have cut Dick Clark's by five minutes and still had more than enough time for him and given that to ATWT.  CBS should be ashamed--BOOooooooo   HISSssssssssss!!!!

I was delighted to see that Michael, Maura (and her darling daughter), and Julie were rewarded for their fine efforts.  But somewhere along the way I didn't realize that Trent had not made it past the pre-noms.  What a loss!!  He had so many fine storylines last year--all different--and showing off his considerable talents.  I am most disappointed by that.

I hope that we will still have reason(s) to stay in touch.  My 82nd birthday on September 29 will be bitter-sweet since ATWT will be past history by then.  It's been delightful!

My intention is to keep the forum open.  This Sparklit site requires a monthly fee.  If, and when I get to it, I'd like to switch to a free site, assuming there's one that will work well for us.  TSY is home base for good friends who happen to have been brought together by GL or ATWT.

Jes....I'd like to know what your preferences, desires and needs are for Trent's forum.  Naturally, he'll be doing something somewhere.

Ruffles--Thank you SO MUCH!!!  I didn't realize there was a cost to this service and I would be delighted to contribute to it, as I'm sure others would as well.  If you'd let me know where to send it, I'd be happy to send you a check.

You can just send me a closed message on this site.  Thanks so much for keeping this mode of communication open to us.  I'd be lost without it.

That's very sweet of you.   The friendships here are more than worth it.   Let's see how things go for now.
