Light --- Your crinums

Your crinums are happy.  They were repotted earlier in the season.  They are in larger pots (12 in) and have delicious, nutritious dirt.   It would seem they've gained in size though the bulb is buried and out of sight.  They certainly have put out more leaves this year.  The catch will be when the cold weather comes.  They'll be parked in the cellar for a nap.  The nap is October to mid May.  Hope they don't mind this too much.  They've survived it so far though.
So.....What do you think?  Are they any where near the size they need to be in order to bloom?  When in their season do they bloom.  Some plants bloom first and then leaf out.  Some leaf out and then bloom.  How do crinums do it?

Today I split my amaryllis and put them in clay pots.  I want a collection that can be placed in the day lily bed that spans the front lawn.  There are a few baby bulbs which will take a while to get up to size.  They'll bloom after the irises are done but before the day lilies.  At this point I have 2 varieties but at Christmas time, which is when they are sold around here, I can pick up some different variations.  This is going to be fun.  I really enjoyed having them bloom outside in my garden this year.

Sorry I have to be so brief right now (more later)... the crinums look great and certainly are big enough to bloom now. They keep leaves year round down here but I seem to remember leaves first then blooms when we were in NC.

Gotta go but will be back another day to continue conversing. So glad they are doing so well, as are the amaryllis :)
