5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake
Permalink

In Honor of "Sabotage Meggie's Diet" month.   Got this from my DIL.  Not entirely sure it is not a joke, but thought I would pass it along anyway.  Enjoy

THE 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE CAKE FOR ONE PERSON.......HOW NEAT

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.  Add the egg and mix thoroughly.  Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.  Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.  The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.  EAT! (can serve 2 if you want ).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?  Because now we are all

Only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Time for me to get back on the diet track too.  But, in the interim, this recipe sounds fun.  How, though, could chocolate chips ever be optional?

I have a friend who has found some good diet recipes on"3 Fat Chicks".  There's a recipe there made with just chocolate cake mix and diet pop.  If you get a chance, you might want to look at the site, although just reading recipes sometimes sends me off the deep end.

Good luck to us all!

Oh good, I'll check it out.  Thanks.

I caught a British cooking show last week on W called "Cook Yourself Thin".  The recipes are adaptations of fast food or just high calorie food made lower calorie without losing the taste.

You can use diet soda to make any cake. Just the mix + the soda and you're good to go. No need for the eggs and oil.

I have done some of those microwave cakes.

For instance, I have a recipe for a german chocolate cake in the microwave, where you put it in a big casserole dish and then just dump the icing over in there with the batter. When it finishes cooking, you dump it out on a cake plate and the cake is done and already perfectly iced.

Amanda, I would love to have your recipe for the "dump" cake which can be iced before it's baked.  Do you ever share recipes?

Have a good day!

I do share them -- I just have to remember how it goes!

I think it only works with German Chocolate (as far as icing it while it bakes) b/c the texture of the icing and [insert scientific mumbo-jumbo here] that causes the icing to go to the outside of the cake.

How much soda do you use to replace the oil and eggs in a cake mix? Diet is okay? What flavour?

You just have to eyeball it to get the right consistency in the batter. (Someone else may have a more scientific approach.)

I normally use Diet Sprite, but you could use any Diet soda, really -- perhaps Diet Coke for a chocolate cake.

LOL, Meggie, 9.8?! Enough with the scrupulous honesty! Just go for it and call it 10 pounds even! :D

By the way, you didn't "lose" them, I "found" them and apparently it's finders, keepers. smile.gif

LOL KarenK, I know it sounds pretty bad but that 10 pound mark is such a biggie with me I refuse to claim it until I actually see it on the digital scale for more than one day.

I've always thought that weight doesn't get 'lost'. Isn't it a law of physics that matter isn't lost, just changed into something else. I swear when someone else loses weight, it finds me. You're welcome to keep any weight that I've lost or pass it on to some other unsuspecting soul.

Thanks, Amanda. I'll try it after my next big milestone or for someone else's birthday.

That would be the "Law of Conservation of Matter"

Check it out. I DID pay attention in school.
