Happy Independence Day- may you all stay safe as you celebrate.
I'm heading over to join our church family with fellowship and the normal American potluck picnic foods. Mark and Verlie drove over so I'm having a good time with them and looking forward to catching up on chatter :)
Our family tradition is to meet down town and watch the fireworks together. We always find each other in the same place. Part of this year's event was extremely weird. There were no festivities at Court Square; no band, no swearing in new citizens ceremony, no music so loud you think your eardrums are bleeding, and hardly any vendors. There were a few vendors selling the light toys. I love those things. There was the F-15 fly by. .......... Our fireworks went on as usual and boy were they spectacular! The display showed off some new crackers which were outstandingly gorgeous and there were plenty of them. I have to say, if the city was having to manage a limited budget, I really, truly appreciate the way it was handled. I also think Mass Mutual donated for this. You've GOT to have a wonderful fireworks display for July 4th! You've just got to!

I watched the Pops fireworks on tv. Our music teacher's wife plays with the Pops and I spotted her -- she was first fife during "Stars and Stripes Forever"!
Around lunch time the fighter planes flew over the house on their way from Hanscom Air Base to (I believe) the Constitution. They were supposed to do a fly-over on Thursday, but it was pouring rain that day.
My parents came over for a barbeque and we all had a great time just being together!
I enjoyed the Boston Pops fireworks concert too. Fun to know your friend was 'first fife'. Because we live so close to the border, we've often gone to Blaine, WA to see the 4th fireworks and they do go all out. It's a tiny border town right on the ocean and they shoot them off in a little bay so they reflect on the water.
