I am so sad! He was a tireless fighter for social justice and a strong advocate for Massachusetts. He was a devoted public servant and surrogate father for his brothers' children. He completely lived life to the fullest, up to his dying days. There is a huge hole in the heart of Massachusetts this morning.
Naturally, I've been thinking of his dogs, Splash and Sunny. I read his book, "My Senator and Me," to the fifth graders because they do US government and it explains how a bill gets passed in a cute and engaging manner. Now I hope I can get through it without choking up!
