The juncos are in the back yard today.
Winter is coming.   Sigh.

Do you think that if they went some place else, winter would go there instead?

Well, this snow bird just arrived in Florida tonight after  a two-day drive from Indiana with an errant tire light that just wouldn't turn off--very disconcerting.   Couldn't wait to get here because the midwest was COLD.  Will be flying to children's homes for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years  and will freeze the entire time.  Aside from that, I'll be in Florida until the end of May.  (Of course, I'l be in NJ and NY at ATWT Luncheon time in April.)

Where do you live, Ruffles?

I'm in MA....watching the El Nino discussion on the weather site, with fingers crossed,  because the presence of an El Nino (warm water temperatures) in the Pacific usually means a milder winter in our area.

That's quite a drive from Indiana to Florida!  My aunt + uncle live there.  They are 91/92 and drive up to MA each year for a summer visit.  They spend time with friends and family along the way.  They used to live here but retired to FL.

Thanksgiving is at my daughter's (12 miles from my place) and Christmas is at my house.  Easter is a toss up.

The prospect of hibernating with my puter and photoshop is very appealing right now.  I do enjoy this time. Plus I have 140 or so tall bearded irises which I love to pieces but by October, the need for constant weeding has gotten old.  In the spring I'll be bursting out of the door to get at that once again.  For now, I have a great Snapper snow thrower.  It is fun to get out and clean up the driveway from time to time.  If we get any Nor'easters, I'll do my level best to aim the snow in your direction!  *grin*

Thanks, Ruffles for answering so promptly.  My husband graduated from BU's School of Theology in 1954.  We were married when we went there in 1951 and thoroughly enjoyed all the seasons when there--each one was so beautiful.

I am heartened to hear of your Aunt and Uncle still driving when they were in their 90s, since I am now 81 and so far am driving well--not reckless but not timid about keeping up with traffic and passing others.

So nice you are so close to a daughter.  One of mine is in Illinois and the other in NJ (the latter comes to ATWT with me).  If you are at the ATWT Luncheon and/or Martinis next year, seek me out--because I'm so old, It will be easier for you to find me than the other way around.

Have lovely Holidays!          Jo Babbitt

Your juncos may be different from those that are here in MA.
