I finally have caught up and saw Coop's last episode. As usual, GL writers got it right, I felt every moment as though I was by Buzz's side the entire. Justin Deas deserves a Emmy for this episode alone. By the end of the show I felt wasted emotionally. This has got to prove to everyone that GL is back stronger than ever and I am not going to turn off the Light.
Were we watching the same show? I must have a jaded medical point of view! LOL I thought the acting was horrible. Lilian stood around like she didn't know what to do next. Some family members were allowed to wander in and out while others were smuched up against the glass. Where was Beth?
Justin Deas did make me cry at the end. But why does GL have to keep killing off characters?? Can't ANYONE move away? Good grief? How powerful would it have been if an alive Jenna came back to SF? It has become almost comical, anytime an actors contract is up, "Off with their heads!"
Harley, she got to move away, Gus is dead. Mindy maybe one or two others, but why so many dead characters? One of the writers has to start keeping count of dead family members. I think Buzz is up to 3 or is it 4 now? He should be at his limit, someone elses family gets the death next time.
That's my rant, again. I have been fed up with the GL killings for many years, and I doubt TIIC will start listening to my complaints anytime soon!
They need to find a new method of maiming and killing characters rather than the monthly car crash. The roads don't look that hazardous to me. Their insurance rates must be through the roof! It's gotten to the point that as soon as a "doomed" character gets into a car you know what's coming next.
I was afraid to admit that I ff'd all the drippy drama over Coop, but Libby empowered me, LOL! When characters start talking to dead people and sleeping on graves, I start to get restless. I guess I'm an action kind of gal!
But I wholeheartedly agree that GL's been MUCH improved lately. I'm actually watching it again. I'm on February break this week, so I've been able to see it most every day. I still will probably only watch a couple of shows a week when I'm working just because I don't have the time. I'm so glad my cable service provides a little synopsis of the episode, so I can pick and choose which shows look the most interesting to me.
Oh ITA about the amount of family deaths that has gone on GL. I had to actually go through the list to remember if Lucy was dead or not. As for Buzz falling asleep on the grave, I know someone who actually did that when she was going through a very rough time and visited her best friend's grave.
ITA Coop was a great character and should not have been killed off and I think John Driscoll has a fantastic chance of having a great acting career ahead of him.
One last thing about deaths on soaps. GL should cut down on the deaths, look at Days of Our Lives, Marlena, John, Roman, Hope and more than half the cast had died and always came back.
Anyone who sleeps outside unprotected in the northern part of the country in February will probably be getting their own grave! At the very least they'd lose a couple of toes. Wednesday's episode actually got to me when Mallett sat Marina down and gave her that speech on living your life. I know how Marina feels, sometimes it feels like only bad things are happening, but you can't seal yourself off, you have to keep on living and enjoying life. That's the kind of quiet scene that gets to me more, rather than the typical soap melodrama. To each, his/her own!
I have to agree, Karen...I love those "unacted" scenes. They seem so natural. I have to admit, I skipped Wednesdays show. After a recent death in my family, I'm not ready to see another on GL. I do wish John all the luck in the world. He's a great actor!
Tamblyn, I'm so sorry to hear of the death in your family. I know what you mean, sometimes GL hits a little too close to home and it makes it hard to watch a particular storyline. Then there are the storylines that are cringe-inducing -- everyone remember Beth and Jeffrey on the floor of the Japanese restaurant?
KK, thank you soooooo very much for that wonderful memory of what made GL considered that classiest soap on the tube! NOT! I'm just hoping someone informs Phillip of all the "wonderful" things Beth has done since he has been gone........you know, like kidnapping Alan & Gus, threatening them with a broken table leg yada yada yada!
