Today, I have to admit I was a little ticked at Reva.
It was like she was telling Daisy "don't come in her and talk to me about YOUR problems, come her and listen to mine!"
I think Daisy had every right to be upset, she just found out her boyfriend was also a kidnapper (although this is Alan's fault?) and said everyone in town was making fun of her. To top it off, she shot at Alan. Pretty big deal. But no one is allowed to have problems or talk about them until Reva has her baby and her cancer is gone!?
Granted... Daisy is a silly little nitwit, but I still think Reva was wrong "Go out and when you come back in we're going to talk about me!"
I'm gonna say something controversial (you've been warned, LOL!): If I were Reva I would have let Daisy stay at my house and have one beer while she talked it out. That way she wouldn't have gone out to the bar and gone overboard. If Phillip hadn't gotten her, she might have driven home. It's not like she's a little kid -- she's at LEAST 19! My own personal feeling is 19 is adult and it's unrealistic to not allow 19 year olds to drink; hopefully then they'd learn to drink responsibly and not think it was this big forbidden fruit. You can vote and die for your country at that age, but you can't have a glass of wine with dinner?
Well, since the drinking age is 19 here, Karen, I'd completely agree with you on that point. I think it might even be 18 in the province of Quebec. At 18 you're a "legal adult" with full rights and privileges in every other way.
And even so, here in Canada, you are allowed to have alcohol in your own home with parental supervision/approval.
And again, you're right, had Granny Reva let her have one beer.. and had Granny Reva allowed her to discuss what was upsetting her, she would have had a quiet time and drank in moderation.
As a parent, ITA with all of you. I would drop everything to talk to my kids, especially if they had shot the richest man in town, after finding out that the one they loved was a kidnapper.
I totally agree too. I remember growing up, my mother would allow us to have a beer at home...she would rather that than risk us going out to sneak it and possibly getting hurt.
