Bambi ate mine one year. Cleaned off the entire crocus bed on its very first day! Then the deer tracks went across the yard to the magnolia bush. You could have drawn a line around the bush 4 feet up from the ground because all the buds were gone from that point down.
Don't know what rabbits do. - There are none here - No rabbit in its right mind would wander into Kayla's space.
It's frustrating as all get out when these things happen.

Just for the record, there ARE no rabbits in their right mind! They come into my backyard and drive Kayla to distraction. It's like a greyhound track -- they run a full lap then dive under the fence. Remember when you guys visited and Kayla had a big cut on her nose? That was either from shoving her snout under the fence or from a rabbits hind feet.I'm so worried she'll blow out her ACL's again.
The last two years, rabbits have had a total of 5 litters inside our fence. *eye roll* Kevin and I don gloves and relocate them to a nest we make on the safe side of the fence (though I guess not safe from coyotes). They may die out there, but they will SURELY die inside the fence! My husband wants a potato cannon for his birthday, LOL!
Ruffles, how can you NOT have rabbits?! Even with the coyotes we have a million here!
We had rabbits when we first moved here but that was over 30 years ago. There's got to be a predator here that takes, or took them out, possibly fox since those have been seen here (not by me). We likely have fisher cats. There are times when, in the late evening, I think I hear coyotes in the distance, but I've never seen any around here. All though last summer there was a bear lounging in my neighbor's front yard diagonally across the street from me. Don't know if my cats had anything to do with the rabbit population but it's been a few years since I've had a cat. (You want squirrels and chipmunks????) I haven't seen a rabbit here anywhere for at least 25 years.
Wow, I can't believe that! Even with coyotes, fisher cats and red tailed hawks, we have an abundance of rabbits (hence the expression "breed like rabbits"). We also have our fair share of chipmunks, but I haven't seen as many squirrels as I used to. Thankfully they tend to sit higher than Kayla and run faster, so they don't drive her as crazy. She actually knows the word "rabbit"! In fact, once we were talking about Bruce Babbitt and her ears perked up and she got all excited. I can't believe I have a pet I have to spell around!
"A pet you have to spell around"?? LOL, we do it ALL the time. As you might remember we had Boxer Sadie, who had a litter of 8 puppies, of which we kept one, named him Morgan (Miss Sadie and Captain Morgan).
Sadie is "daddy's little girl, spoiled rotton, princess, only chld (why did you keep that puppy), brat". Morgan is "Dufus." He shares a brain cell with his brother, who we sold to friends on the next street over. But we still have to spell out ALL of the following words or he gets all excited and starts crying: go, run, walk, treat, cookie, snack, cat, bird. See a pattern there? Actually, we use cat and bird even if there aren't any just to watch him be a cartoon dog on the new laminate hard wood floor. FUNNY, the feet move but he doesn't go anywhere.
Sadie is my smart one, she has a whole brain cell she doesn't have to share with anyone else. When Morgan is getting all the loving (whether we want to give it to him or not), she goes and gets a toy, distracts Morgan with it, drags it to another room, then comes back and sits on Daddy's lap. Morgan still hasn't figured it out, falls for it every time.
