When GL ends...

Well, everything I've heard recently doesn't sound too good for GL being picked up by another channel.  It's utterly depressing...

What are your plans after GL goes off the air?  I know many of you watch ATWT.  Will you just watch it?  I'm not sure what I will do.  Guiding Light has been a part of my life for over 30 years.  I used to watch ATWT but that was many, many years ago and it's future doesn't sound too certain either.  I'm a little leery of starting back into ATWT if it's days are numbered also.  I don't think I can stand to have my heart broken again!

Well, I currently have no TV to see ATWT or GL. The digital transition wiped me out.

So, I guess I can watch online. Although, I still haven't watched any of the ATWT or GL episodes I recorded during the last week of the analog signal.

There were days when I'd totally freak out if I got home and for one reason or another, my shows didn't record. Now I can't even pick up the channel and I don't really care that much.

I'll watch till the end, but it'll probably just be here and there and a lot of FFing.

I have a feeling that when GL goes, ATWT will not last a great deal longer afterwards.

I've only watched GL regularly except for some times my daughter was home and had Days on, so I could probably pick up on it.  I didn't think I'd watch anymore daytime when GL ended but may take a look at Days now that CC is going there.

I agree with Amanda.  GL used to be a highlight of the day but now I tape every day but often realize that it's been three days or more that I haven't watched .

As it is, I only have time to watch GL about 2 times a week, so I certainly don't want to start with another show.

Amanda, the digital conversion wiped out my little tv in the kitchen and I'm bereft.  Now I have to chop vegetables without watching Oprah or the news?!  I spend a good part of my non-working life in the kitchen -- our laundry is there, I do all the cooking and a good deal of the cleaning up, I make the lunches, etc.  I will be bored out of my wits without the tv!

The kitchen is not wired for cable.  We tried to buy a digital tv, but it didn't work, even with the special antenna we then purchased.  grrrr....  I'm really mad about this!

When GL went to bare bones, basic + cheap production methods, that was it for me.  I couldn't stand the inferior photography, lighting, sound or sets and lack there of.  I'll watch it sometimes after ATWT in order to stay connected but ATWT is my daily soap fix now and I don't want to be without it.  I miss our soap banters.  We used to have so much fun picking apart the absurdities.  There's just nobody who gets it the way you all do in our soap group.

I've also been watching Dallas.  I have the DVDs through the 11th season.  It's a lot of fun.  I'm into the third season where JR has torqued everybody and is about to be shot. ----  If they ever replayed GL on a soap channel or released DVDs, I'd be game to watch it again, right from its original beginnings.  That would be something!

So sorry about your nonfunctioning analog sets.  What a bummer!  I thought the cable companies had a solution for that but you'd probably need a cable line installed.

For me, I guess this the end of a major part of my life. I watch GL since I was a child with my mother and continued all these years since she passed on. I used to watch Days, however from the brief times I was channel surfing that show makes GL look like Masterpiece Theater. I am really going to be depressed when GL's light is turned off.

GL is a major life part.  I guess we each need to close the door as best we can, each in our own way.  It was GL that brought us together.  It looks like we get to keep each other.  Imagine that!

Well said, Ruff! For me, I came to terms with this ages ago thanks to my unofficial hobby of tracking inside info. Now that I have my laptop, I'll just use that extra hour to amuse myself with stuff I could never do while on webtv & have more time to watch other things/do other things.

I don't think I will be watching any soaps anymore. I occasionally watched "Days" over the years, but got bored with it. Now often I watch GL out a felling of obligation. So I FF and wish and hope it would get better or just end. It is all so sad.

I will probably see it come over my RSS feed, but if anybody hears when Tom Pelphrey's first airdate will be, let me know. I'll find a way to tune in for that.

Also, if Marina and Cyrus decide to run away together and leave the life of boredom behind, I'd like to hear about that, too.
