Amanda/Prof. Snape...

How was it, Amanda?! I was thinking of you last night!  They had a midnight showing of HP at our little theater in town and my son went with some friends.  He's still asleep -- are you doing in to work at your normal time?

Details, I want details!  :D

The movie was fantastic! One of the best -- if not THE best -- so far.

Of course, since Snape is my favorite character, that may skew my opinion a bit. He was so overlooked in the first 5 movies that it was nice to see him finally take center stage.

My co-worker Kelli and I watched HP1 and 2 Monday night (until the wee hours), and then we closed our office at 3:00 yesterday to make it to the mall to catch the rest of the marathon, movies 3 -5.

I did manage to get a wig. Funnily enough, one of the ladies who supplies the wigs for the church plays loaned it to me, and it came in a ziploc back that she had labeled "Jesus' Wig." Then, one of the graphic designers in University Advancement drew my dark mark on with a Sharpie Marker in about 5 minutes.

The theater was decorated and the staff were in costume. We had even called the theater earlier in the day and wondered why the girl who answered was talking in such a high-pitched voice. Come to find out -- she was in character as Luna!

The first movie started at 3:15, with the next one almost immediately following at 5:45, and then we had a dinner break before the fourth at 9:15. Because we had purchased marathon tickets, we were able to keep our seats for the midnight showing. I walked out in the between-time to get something to drink and it was a mob scene! This is a pretty small theater we're talking about -- it's inside our mall food court and has only 4 screens. Over 1000 people showed up, and the lobby was a mad house. Trying to get through the people was like trying to walk down the street in Times Square times ten!

Since I was Snape, I couldn't really carry a purse, so I used my wand bag to hold the essentials -- car keys, credit card, anti-bac, and lip gloss! Hence, I did not take my camera in, but Kelli took a picture of me on her iPhone to put on Twitter. This was about the fourth attempt, because I kept smiling instead of scowling!

I did, however, scowl at some teenagers who insisted on talking and cutting up during some of the earlier movies. Before the 5th movie, as we picked our seats, I addressed everyone in the vicinity and said, "Before I get comfortable, does anyone around here have the compulsive need to yap throughout movies?" Then I raised my wand and said, "I'd hate to have to hurt you." It seemed to work, because everyone chuckled and then they were actually quiet during that movie. During the new movie at midnight, you could have heard a pin drop aside from the occasional laughter at the numerous funny moments in the movie.

Even though I obviously already knew what was coming at the end, I still let out an audible gasp when you-know-what happened. I thought this movie was really well done. I'll definitely see it again.

Oh, I cannot wait to see it!!! Amanda, you look AWESOME as Snape! :D *thumbs up!* He's my favorite character too and I ADORE Alan Rickman (I mean I really have a serious crush on him *blush*). It sounds like a blast -- wish I could have joined you!

I been away but did see HP on opening day. I have to say I left the theater emotionally drained. This was the best of all the movies so far and I loved all of them. I can't wait for the final two.
