Great news for the Canucks.  Bobby Luo signed a 12 year   $64M  deal with the Canucks!  Speculation yesterday had him signing for 10 years, but 12?  Wow!  The dollar figures are obscene but probably less than he might have made going to other teams.  Apparently his family likes it here and he wants to end his career in a Free Willy uniform.

Joel, I haven't checked the schedule to see if we play your Panthers this year.  If so, get your loonie ready.

Yeah, Sammie e-mailed me at work with the big news. I'm happy for him and the Canuck fans who appreciate him. (sadly, I think some don't!)

I believe the Panthers visit the Canucks this season because last year they visited us, but I'm not sure of the exact date. And by the way, what do you think of that tremendously long string of road games you all will have before & after the Olympics? Hopefully, they will get off to a good start with all the early home games.

The Canucks schedule is a bear.  They'd better get off to a good start and not have their usual January no-goal-fest with that long road trip.  Assuming that Luongo will be an Olympic goalie, it's going to be a long year for him too.

PS...can't wait for the Olympics...166 days to go...

Well, I was wrong! Canucks once again travel to Florida on Feb 11 qas part of the marathon road trip. I was surprised to see this as I thought teams rotate home and home for thier out of conference games every other year according to the new schedule.

My "other team", the Pens, visit your fair city on Jan 16 as part of the HNIC doubleheader. Must try & stay up that night! LOL Can't wait to have a full season of HNIC this year. And you will be getting a LOT more US viewers this year as Comcast cable put NHL Network on a digital tier in addtion to the extra pay sports entertainment package.

Can't wait to see your beautiful city shown off to the world in February.

I'm getting excited about hockey! The Bobby Lou contract is great for the Canucks, and getting Erhoff from SJ is a major coup considering you gave up prospects that aren't really that good. The only outstanding issue is Mats, and until they free up some cap space they can't do anything about him. Then there's the whole "will he or won't he" retire thing!

I'm hoping that Mats either retires or the Canucks pass on him.  We have some good young players plus the ones we got in the recent trades, and I think it's time to go with what we have.

The GM was talking today about being over the cap, and said it was deliberate since we have such a brutal schedule that he assumes there will be injuries and that can change everything.  Pavel Dimitri won't start the season after surgery.

Did you see the Hockeyville game last night?  It was in Terrace, BC, about 500 miles north of Vancouver on the coast.  Sergei Sjirokov got both goals for the Canucks and may be an interesting addition from Russia.

Meggie, your granddaughter in your profile picture with the blond hair, looks like a young Hayden Panettiere. They are both gorgeous!

My Red Wings are looking okay... Not the greatest due to losing so many guys but okay.  They open against the Blues in Sweden.
Meggie I am glad that Luongo will be around for 12 more years :)  Joel do the Wings play your Panthers this year?

Wow, Ray Fererra has picked the Canucks and the Flyers in the Cup Final!  Wouldn't that be something!?

Yeah.....for Sammie! LOL I would be a sad camper if it was the Flyers playing for the Cup! LOL But at least I'd have the Canucks to root for.

Meanwhile, my Panthers had a nice come-from-behind win over Chicago today & I just watched my Pens raise the banner & am watching them hopefully beat NYR as I type.

JoelC, don't you wish you'd kept Craig Anderson?  He just shut out the Canucks 3-0 and your Panthers took a whipping today too.  Talk about a goalie flying under the radar!  The Av's got a good one!

So tonight, Ole Sneaky is in Vancouver and as usual, he won't shut up. There are rumours out there that his big mouth cost the Laffs a 4th round pick because the league put a gag order on him regarding the tampering charges against him but he kept yapping. He and Wilson are the crankiest people on the planet!

Geez my Wings are looking sad furious I just don't like the back up goalie Jimmy Howard.  He was bad when he was down in the minors and he has not gotten better.  Osgood is so so but we can't ride on him forever.  Our defence is not all that great right now.  Ugh.... I see an early golf season for the Wings this year no

Yikes, I've been out of hockey touch for a few weeks and just starting to catch up.  From what I gathered quickly, GM Place is painting a red cross on the roof.  Daniel Sedin and Bobby Lu are both out for awhile.  With our schedule due to the Olympics, we need points now!
