Watched my first ATWT!

I watched Thursday and Friday's episodes.  Luckily soaps have a penchant for dialogue that includes characters' names, with the exception of the "Mom" characters (naturally!).  How many times do YOU use people's first names when you're talking to them?  The Holden/Jack/Lily/Damien sequence was especially hilarious in the frequency of name use.

I really enjoyed it.  My younger son watched with me and we found some of the same things to laugh at as GL. 

Questions/comments:

1)  Henry looks A LOT like a younger Rob Lowe.  We are big West Wing fans and have recently been watching the dvds; they look alike and make very similar facial expressions.  They could play brother quite easily.

2)  Why is Lily in bed with Damien, who looks quite creepy BTW, if she's so distraught about Holden?  I realize she thinks he's dead, but if I were a grieving widow I wouldn't be snugged up with some creepy looking guy!

3) Who's Ralph and why are Henry and "mom" (what is that character's name?) giving him checks?

4)  The other "mom" of Lily (what's her name?) sounds SO much like Marj Dusay, I felt as if I was watching Alexandra Spaulding.  They play similar characters too.

5)  The guy who plays Luke has a mouth just like Kim Zimmer -- then I looked on Wikipedia and found that he's not her son, but her son played the original Luke.  How weird is that?!

Congratulations and welcome to the ATWT Gang, Karen.

1.  I agree with you that Trent looks a lot like Rob Lowe, but he is more unique and very personable.  If you haven't been to "Martinis with Henry" (after the ATWT Luncheon in April), you should come and see what I mean.

2.  Damien and Lily had a romance (I don't think they were married) resulting in the birth of Luke.  She still loves Damien and is letting him "console" her in more ways than one, but Holden is still the love of her life.  (But you know they will get more rolls in the hay by any means necessary)

3.  Audrey Coleman (Henry's mom) and Ralph have cooked up a money-laundering scheme so that she and Henry can keep the Stenbeck money without Vienna
knowing because she has threatened to leave Henry if he keeps the money.

4. Lucina Walsh has been on the show for years and is a wonderful actress--on stage, as well.  Though her role my resemble that of Marj Dusay, she wields a lot more power in her own right.

5.  When Kim's son was on, he portrayed a younger Luke who hadn't yet come to terms with his sexuality.  Van Hansis followed him as a more adult Luke.

Ohhh, Martinis with Henry?!  Can I drink wine?  When and where does this take place?  You said in April -- in NYC?  Sounds like my kind of gathering, LOL!

The ATWT luncheon will be Saturday, April 19, 2010 , if I have remembered the date correctly.  Over the last 5 years, Trent has hosted a "Martinis with Henry"event at a bar just a few blocks from the Marriott where the luncheon is held.  It generally is from 4-6 or 7 p.m. on the same day as the luncheon.  jes will give us more information on this when the date is closer (or when she sees this thread).  The bar can accomodate about 60 people.  And, yes, I believe they serve wine (I have had cokes or spritzers).   I know there is a pretty full bar although they don't serve my favorite, a virgin pina colada.  At any rate, it's fun with or without a drink.

Trent's character, Henry Coleman, is a devotee of martinis and you will notice on ATWT shows that if he has a drink in his hand, it is probably a martini.  Hence, the name of the get-together.

hi karen, welcome to atwt! and great answers jo. just one correction - lily and damian were indeed married, for several years. at the time holden had lost his memory due to a mugging and having part of his brain removed (no joke!), so lily moved on, not able to deal with a holden who didn't remember her and didn't love her. of course holden eventually got his memory back, but lily was already married to damian. she was about to leave him when damian was shot, so she stayed with him to "nurse him back to health." i don't recall what led to their divorce, maybe when damian's crazy mother drugged her and tried to take luke away from her? damian has always been interested in "the grimaldi heir," but holden deliverd luke and has raised him as his son since he was young.

we'd love to have you join us at martinis with henry next year! the luncheon is on the 17th of april, i'm sure we'll have another martinis party but i usually send out info about that around the first of the year. if you want to be among the first to hear about it you can join trent's fan club at trentdawson.com, otherwise i'll post the info here too. you can also see pictures from past martinis events on the photos page. we just call it "martinis" because, as jo said, henry loves his martinis. :) but the bar serves a wide variety of beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

lol about the names.  not only do the use first names a lot, but last names too!  people often refer to "paul ryan," for example, as if there's any other paul in town!

finally, you're not the first person to think trent looks like rob lowe!  check this out:

If I had to label that picture of Trent, I would have said Rob Lowe.  I hope one day to be able to tell them apart, LOL!

Yay, Karen! I'm glad you're watching. I'm using your first name, Karen, while talking to you, in the hopes that everyone on the board will learn your name. HaHaHa!

You might have to catch me up on all the storylines since I haven't been able to watch ATWT in a while.

If anybody can point me to a series of YouTube clips to catch up on our dear Henry and Jack, I'd greatly appreciate it!
