So far David is faring pretty well. His temp was 102 yesterday afternoon, but tylenol is making him comfortable. So far not in his chest *fingers crossed*. The doctor said it's probably flu, but they don't test for it anymore and they don't even give anti-virals if you're not in an at-risk group, so he's toughing it out. So far it seems to be pretty mild -- let's hope it stays that way.
As for the frig, let's just say Tony Soprano and his son showed up last evening to take a look. Tony Sr. just stood there looking at it. I was thinking "I tried that and it didn't work," but I didn't want to end up in the Charles River. We have a call in to Sears for Saturday but we were hoping a local guy could fix it faster. No such luck!
But we're all together and for that I am incredibly thankful. We have three coolers and a mini frig Charlie bought in NJ when he was picking up his dad, so we're getting by. Our dining room looks like a frat party, LOL!
It stands to reason that once in a while there will be holidays in our lives which don't go as they are supposed to.
Back when I was still married, we had one Thanksgiving I will never forget. In the early part of the day, my then/hubby was doing some work on his vehicle out in the driveway. He came into the house and called me for assistance at the sink in the bathroom. He had a small bleeding cut in the center of his forehead. I went upstairs to get something clean for it but when I returned, he was passed out on the floor. Having just completed my first CPR course, I knew he was breathing all right and how to respond. I stayed with him and instructed someone else to call 911. The cops came first. The officer surveyed the situation and called the ambulance via his walkie talkie. In the process he reported that it was not spousal abuse. The cop also figured out what happened. He went to the garage. The garage door wasn't all the way up and he found a drop of blood on the garage floor in the path that one takes to the entry door of the house. My ex had walked into the garage door. So, while we were at the hospital, my neighbors, who had seen the ambulance, came over, cleaned up the blood that happened in the bathroom and basted the turkey. He (my ex, not the turkey) was treated and released. We had our Thanksgiving dinner later that day. ........... Then on Monday, I went back to school. I was in the last year of working on my human services degree in our community college which is why I had just had the CPR course. And I mean I JUST had that course within the past week. I told my instructors in class that I had put the CPR knowledge to use that weekend. The story shot through the whole human service department within the day.
KK.....You really called the Sopranos to fix your refrigerator? Um, we certainly are thankful you didn't end up in the Charles River over this.

Received a call from my brother who lives locally. It seems my sister in VA has lost part of her power. My brother in VA, is headed to her place with extension cords and his generator. It seems my sister has a rather nice grill which includes a rotisserie. The generator will put out enough to power that. Can you imagine a turkey rotisseried on a grill? We should all go there for Thanksgiving!!!

Our power went out one Christmas day when I had the turkey in the oven. Fortunately, my friend across town had power, and always cooks her turkey on Boxing Day. We packed up the turkey in the roaster and took it to her house to finish cooking. We had a gas barbeque with a side burner so we thought we could do the veggies one at a time. The power came back on just as the turkey was done so everything worked out.
It was a more memorable dinner than most. Hope your sister's dinner is successful. She'll definitely have a story.
Sorry not to get here with my good wishes to all of you. It's been pretty hectic with family coming in and things that needed to be done (which were hard to get done before hand with the hours I've pulled lately). Anyway, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Ruffles, your story was funny :)
KK, sure hope your young man is feeling better at this time. The flu seems to hit hard and last long but is mild in itself... just watch for a cough that seems to worsen rather than improve as it lingers or a fever that goes away and then comes back. A lot of our kids have gone into pneumonia with this year's flu. Hope you don't catch it...
Also hope your refrigerator/freezer issues are resolved or will be soon. What a lousy time to have refrigerator issues :-/
Nice to see your note light. Being too busy to post because of all your family activity is a great thing. Things can be crazy busy sometimes but after all is said and done, those memories of shared togetherness mean the most.
Thanks too for the note about the post flare up of the flu cough. This is happening with my 8 year old granddaughter now. She has asthma and did have a very light case of the flu recently. She also has a very proactive mom.
