You are crazy!!

My mom called me at 6:15 this morning.  She was out shopping, saw something and wanted to know if I wanted it for Christmas.

Of course, I can't say much because on Boxing Day 6 years ago, I was lined up at Best Buy at 6am...

I agree, you're crazy. I hate shopping, so there's no way I would go out to any of the sales. We don't spend big at Christmas anyway, so I'm not out looking for big ticket items. I'm annoyed by the whole "Black Friday" business -- I need to go to Barnes and Noble for a few books for school and I'm dreading the traffic I'll have to endure to get there. Stay home, people!!! smile.gif

The Old Navy ad said they were open at 3am.  Nutso!  And I think Boxing Day is bad here!  No sale is worth lining up for a whole day and missing the holiday to save $100 on some TV.

My dil and her mother went down for Black Friday a couple of years ago.  They had 3 hour border line ups both ways and stayed over night in a hotel.  They'd have had to get everything free to even break even.

AWWW, But they had Nintendo DS games for $7!!  I don't like to shop either Karen, But I hate spending more money when I have to even more, Big or small ticketed item!!  Xmas is not cheap, I mean its just not. If on christmas morning I went into 5 to 10 homes with children I'd be shocked to see 1 of those houses not have something electronic or require batteries!!

Glad you survived and got some neat games.  I like to shop and am a bargain hunter too, but it's the early hours that would kill me.  Going early is one thing but what bothers me are the folks who line up all day and night, missing the actual holiday with their family, to score a cheap TV.
I'm sure your kids' smiles will make the early hour worthwhile.

Maggie that place was packed! Almost the whole parking lot was filled!!  I don't mind getting up early, but with my daughter I have to shop when I can anyway, Can't take her with me and let her see what I'm getting her...  With kids I look for the deals cause who know if they are gonna play with them after you get them. I learned that fast. When she was real little I got her one of the crawling Disney babies and she was petrified of it!!  I paid like $20-25 dollars for it, and she screamed when someone turn it on ( she was under a year old).. So with those games I'd rather her bored or not interested in one that cost $7 then one I dished out $20+ for

I so totally agree about not trading the time at home/holiday, family time with the opportunity to spend the day/night in a parking lot with strangers in hopes of saving $100 on a tv or some such. The holiday is worth more than that to me. And our news was running adds from stores that were open on Thanksgiving day itself, in an effort to get a jump on the Christmas sales. I think that's awful- those workers need to be home with their families, enjoying the holiday too.

I won't go to the after Christmas sales. Too crowded and they bait the shopper with items/prices to get them there but the reality of it is that there's usually only 1-2 of those specially priced items in the store and you're not going to go home with it anyways. I don't spend that much for Christmas and most of what I give is either handmade or bought earlier in the year when it's on sale. I put away for Christmas all year long.

But for those who like it, I don't fault their fun. Evil, glad you got some items you'd like to have but more than that, it sounds like you had fun and that's probably more important in the long run :)

Thanks Light, I do enjoy it!!  I usually go with my half-sister ( and have pretty good luck) after Thanksgiving dinner, but seeing it is usually my dad and I, we don't cook.. We order chinese.  Black Friday is more a tradition then anything else...

I don't do Black Friday. I hate shopping, period. The ONLY time I ever went out on Black Friday was right after I moved into my apartment. I had picked out the dining room set I wanted at a local furniture store and went out on Black Friday to purchase it for half price. Luckily, everyone doesn't run out for furniture, so I didn't encounter a crowd -- I got in, got out, and got home, saving about $700. So that was worth it.

I don't see how anything else could be. People get trampled to death on Black Friday over these deals! Totally insane.

My mother is a bargain shopper for the ages, and she doesn't go out on Black Friday. She says it's about shopping year-round and getting the deals when you see them. She laughs at the Black Friday "deals" while she sits at home resting from a full Thanksgiving Day.

My poor brother works in food service, so he had to be at work at 4am on Friday, and he worked until 7pm. Last year he worked 5am - 11pm. Crazy.

I do all my shopping online, anyway.
