i'm so sad about this. not just that the show i've watched virtually all my life is ending, but also for the communities and the people that this show has brought me into contact with. not to mention all the people losing their jobs. with gl and atwt cancelled and amc moving to l.a., how long can oltl survive in nyc?
i sort of knew this might be coming, but that doesn't make it any easier to take. :( i just have to believe there's still a market out there for soaps. it'll never be like the good old days, but there are still soap fans who want to watch soaps instead of another stupid game show or talk show or news show. this is just sad. :(
i'll say one thing: next year's martinis with henry will be the best one yet!!!!!!!!
I just read this on soapcentral, and I'm blown away after recent reports of it being saved for another year. Like Jes said there are a lot of ppl who still do enjoy soaps, Maybe there will be a fit for the show on another network, or different medium. Daytime game shows, talk shows, and reality TV can not fill the void of escape that soaps can, we as fans know that.. They are our one hour escape from reality!
You all have my deepest condolences... I've been there, I know how upset you are now and how devastated you will be when they pull the plug. Good thing I haven't invested much time or emotion into this show, I don't think I could take it again. Not being melodramatic, the end of GL felt very much like a death in the family. That show followed me to everywhere I lived, it was my friend when I had none and my family when mine lived far away.
I just saw the news on the internet. I've had a bad feeling for some time that this was coming, but actually seeing it on the news was such a shock. This is really the end of an era, with more cancellations to come, I think.
I'm sure Trent and the others have known this for a while, but I feel badly for them and all the crews of workers on the show.
Next year's "Martinis" will be a dichotomy. I'm looking forward to it, but I want to put it off--joy and sorrow intermingled.
I'm so sorry for all you longtime ATWT fans & those who were just now getting hooked. Sadly, while I was shocked to hear about this so soon, it did not come as a surprise........the theory always was once GL was canceled, that ATWT would soon follow. On a somewhat positive note, at least TPTB were given MUCH more notice than the GL PTB were given, so hopefully the ending will be one that is deserving for the many longtime fans & castmembers.
^^ ICAM I have been thinking about this all day.. Why does it always seem like ppl are let go or whatever around the holidays.. So NOT cool!! With Trent, He is gonna be just fine, (It S**cks don't get me wrong) He is good at what he does, and he'll find something, He has said he misses theater too.. and I would love to see him in a play. This is a talented cast all around..
