Brrr, I just read about the nasty winter storm hitting New England and up the St. Lawrence, and thought about all of you.  Brrr, I hope everyone is safe.  KarenK, did you finally get to rev up your shiny red snow blower?  We'll have to give it a name.

No, it was so heavy and wet, my son just finished shovelling because it's supposed to freeze up tonight.  It took me 25 minutes to drive 4 miles this morning -- what a MESS!!  This is not the pretty snow, it's the slushy, heavy wet kind that's hard to drive in and hard to move.

I took my son to an appointment in Arlington, one town over and they had no snow!  Maybe I should move, LOL!  The 128 "beltway" around Boston can get slammed and the towns inside 128 get rain.  Really strange!

We had about 4 inches of snow during the night and AM, followed by sleet, and then a bit of light rain.  The extremely wet and heavy snow MUST be hand shoveled.  Any snow thrower would just clog up its chute and look at  you with a 'Why don't you get a life!' attitude.  Plus, with the promise of below freezing temps during the night, it's GOT to be removed or it will all freeze into solid ice and that's a problem.  Hand shoveling this stuff is a major back killer.  I finally asked the two athletic teens across the street if they wanted to earn some $$$ today.  They helped along with their father and did clear my driveway.  (My driveway is huge.)  When I tried to pay them, they refused.  'It's a neighborly thing to do' they said.  'Use it for a Christmas gift' they said.  'Merry Christmas'

That was really nice of them, Ruff... good neighbors you've got there.

The weather reports up there look dreadful. Uggh. Keep warm and stay safe as you gals head out and about. I'm grateful to be in FL at times like this...

KK and Ruff, that's the kind of snow we always get.  That's one of the reasons that 4 inches can bring us to a standstill.  Add mountains and half the population without snow tires and you get the picture.

We  have snow predicted for the weekend so you know we'll be on the news, slipping and sliding into each other, and whining about our terrible winter while the rest of Canada and the northern US rolls eyes and shrugs.

I agreed with Lee on Facebook, I'd rather have 2 feet of fluffy snow than 4 inches of that liquid cement we got today.  I take back my condescending attitude toward Vancouver snow if this is what you have to deal with!  disbelief I had to drive the long way around to pick up Kevin because wires were down and the road I wanted to take was closed.  Just a mess!

Ruffles, what great neighbors!  I'm so glad they helped you.  This was SO heavy!!!

Ruffles, I agree with the rest, what wonderful neighbors. I also agree with the neighbors, It IS the neighborly thing to do. What goes around, comes around. Make them a nice batch of cookies w/ hot chocolate!!

Good idea KarenGA!  My frosted Christmas cookies are very Christmassy.  I can give them a tin of those.
