This was a very quiet, low key day and I loved it. Getting ready for iris season is a ton of work. The pressure is to have the whole yard visitor ready all at once. My daughter just got home from Disney on Monday night @ 1:00 AM. She chaperoned the band trip for 4 days, which happened to include my granddaughter. So, she'll be coming over for a birthday visit soon but it couldn't be today. The birthday visit may very well turn into an iris visit also. The irises are blooming now. Other family folks will be showing up for this too. We'll see.
It's been a ton of physically hard work to get the yard ready. There's still a (smaller) pile of mulch in the driveway but what's left can wait. I took the day off and just plain enjoyed the irises. They are gorgeous today. It was too hot, The blossoms go fast in the heat. ----HEY....The first June bug is buzzing up against the screen right now!!! FUN!----The irises are just out and out beautiful right now. Out came the camera!! Fun. This is the first day where I didn't feel the pressure of not getting something else done while I was doing a task. One of the irises actually went into a droop because of the heat. Normally irises are fine without being watered but there are blossoms now. So all the beds were watered manually with the hose. ... Oh life is tough! .. LOL! ...
Enjoyed a long leisurely conversation with my brother and his wife this evening. NICE!

I'm a little late, but Happy Birthday Ruffles!! I'm glad you had such a nice, relaxing day with your beautiful irises!! I hope the year ahead is just as bright and beautiful!!!
I'm coming in a little late, too, but considering the family hasn't celebrated it yet, I feel like I'm still on time :D It sounds like you had a perfectly wonderful birthday, with good time for you and your flowers. How nice that it's iris season when you want to celebrate life itself, huh?
Happy, happy birthday with many more beautiful days like this to follow :D
Sounds like you had a beautiful day, Ruff! I smiled for you just reading it. You are getting so much pleasure from the simple things in life, which is a lesson we'd all do well to take!
