Light.......Meant to tell you a few days ago: The crinums have been repotted. They are in 12 inch pots now and have a whole potful of delicious, nutritious, fortified dirt! It was amazing to see their root systems. They LOVE to propogate their roots. One of them is completely buried in the soil. T...

Humming bird feeder
(Preview)
This year I have a new humming bird feeder. It was an on-line order and came from a place that specializes in bird and humming bird feeders. It's a charming antique style bottle that hangs upside down. It screws into a covered feeder tray dish with 4 metal flower feeder ports. They said it was bee and...

The sugar maple has leafed out to its max and is now blocking the sun light from my east facing office window. It is an amazing change. The problem it created was an inability to critically view photo images on the computer. It was too dark in the room. Normal tungsten bulbs, with their yellow light m...

Now that the groundwater has ebbed out of my basement, a ten foot wide water main has ruptured in a town west of here, causing a boiled water order in 30 communities, including the city of Boston. 2 million customers in 700,000 households. That's alot of undrinkable water coming out of our taps. So I'...

You have friends in England. Would you be able to ask them how they control the bleepity bleep bleep red lily beetle over there? We've got the beetle but no natural predators and no effective pesticide for it. Wish the birds would eat it. The stupid bug is bright red. It's easy pickings.

Help please re Curling irons and hair dryers

This may seem odd to most of you but I've just entered into a completely different world of hair care. I have naturally curly hair which I've always managed by wet setting. The rollers or pin curls force the hair to dry straight (not frizzy) and curl in the desired direction. Most hair dressers don't...
